Our priority is to help you feel at ease and confident that your child is in safe hands. We believe that when parents, teens, and mentors work together, great things can happen. Our role is to make these connections easy, safe, and genuinely rewarding for your whole family.
Every teen is different, and so are the things they need support with. Whether it’s school stress, friendships, confidence, or just having someone to talk to, we’re here to help with whatever matters most to your child.
Fill out our contact form, and we’ll get back to you within a day or two to arrange a friendly chat.
Apply TodayWe’ll talk about what you’re looking for, answer any questions, and discuss the support you and your child might need. We’ll work around your family’s routine, so everything is shaped to fit what works best for you.
Your child will fill out a short questionnaire so we can get to know them better, and learn more about their interests, needs, or specific requests. We use this to handpick three mentors who we think would be a great fit, and you and your child will be able to choose the one who feels right for you.
Mentoring sessions take place online, last 45–60 minutes, and usually happen once a week, but we’re flexible to your schedule. Each session is shaped around your teen’s goals, with practical strategies and a concrete takeaway every time.
After each session, your mentor writes a short, friendly update on TutorCruncher so you’re always in the loop. We also check in after the first few sessions and at regular intervals. You’re welcome to reach out with questions or feedback at any time, and if anything needs adjusting, we’ll make it happen.
Along the journey, we’ll keep shaping the support around what you and your child need. We’re here to listen and adapt, making sure the experience is always safe, supportive, and right for your family.
All sessions are closely monitored by our team
This is a space for catching-up so your child can share how they’re feeling and what’s been on their mind.
Together, choose one priority to work on that day (for example confidence, motivation, friendships, school stress, or a specific challenge).
This is the main part of the session, a space to talk things through and try practical tools, strategies, and activities your child can use in their day to day life.
Towards the end of the session, your child and their mentor will pause to reflect on what went well, what your child can take away, and what feels most important to carry forward into everyday life.
Your child and their mentor will agree on one small, realistic next step to try between sessions that is supportive and achievable.
After each session, there's a brief report to help track progress, share any important updates, and ensure everyone stays supported and safe.
Freemind Mentors is the bridge between where your child is and where they want to be. What sets us apart is our focus on connection: we pair teens with mentors who are just a few years ahead—people who "get it," listen without judgment, and are equipped to help build confidence and real-life skills. Our approach is grounded in research, guided by real experience, and recommended by 100% of families who've joined us.
Our mentoring is for young people aged 11–18. If you're not sure if your child fits, or you have questions about your situation, just reach out—we're always happy to talk it through and help you find the right support.
Not really—mentoring can have an impact at any age. The sooner a young person starts, the more likely they are to be open about communicating, sharing their concerns, and identifying a positive direction and purpose in their lives.
Research proves that mentoring is greatly useful in young adults' lives. Studies have shown it helps individuals improve both social and academic prospects. Mentoring allows meaningful relationships to be formed, having a real impression on the mentee. It allows them to develop leadership, management, communication, and creative skills. Mentoring for young adults also further empowers them to give back to their community.
Nope! Mentoring is quite different. Your mentor isn't there to teach schoolwork or dig into your child's past. Instead, they're someone a bit older who's been through similar things and can help your child talk things through, figure stuff out, and look ahead. It's about support, not lessons or therapy—and your child will walk away with new skills and ways to face whatever comes next.
That's completely fine—there's no pressure. We're here to answer your questions and help you decide what's best for your family. If you're curious about how mentoring could help, reach out for a chat—sometimes a conversation is the best way to see if it feels right.
Simply fill out our contact form and we'll get in touch within a day or two. We'll arrange a relaxed chat to learn more about your needs, answer any questions, and talk through next steps together.
There usually isn't a waiting list. If there ever is, we'll let you know right away. Just get in touch and we'll have a friendly call to understand your needs and see how we can help.
We recommend starting with our 6-session package. This gives your child enough time to build trust with their mentor, get a real feel for the process, and start to see some small results. After that, we'll chat about what's best for your family—whether that's continuing with a set package, going session-by-session, or taking a break.
You can choose between set packages (paid upfront) or a rolling plan. When you reach out, we'll talk you through the options so you can make the choice that fits your family best.
When your sessions are finished, you can reach out to us, or we'll check in to see what feels right for you—whether that's continuing, taking a break, or wrapping up.
Absolutely. Just let us know if you need to pause at any time, and we'll work with you to find the best way forward.
Just send us a quick message or give us a call, and we'll help you set up additional sessions or a new package.
All sessions are currently held online. This allows for flexibility, convenience, and close safeguarding. If you have a special request or concern, please let us know—we're always open to a conversation.
Due to our safeguarding policies, all mentoring takes place online. If you should hear from your child of any proposed face-to-face meetings, please advise us immediately.
All you need is a laptop, tablet, or smartphone with internet access. We'll help you get set up if you have any questions.
Sessions are held online using secure video links. You'll receive all the information you need to get started.
Sessions last around 45–60 minutes and are usually once a week, but we're flexible to your schedule.
We're flexible and follow your lead—just let us or your mentor know as soon as possible, ideally with at least 24 hours' notice. If you need to cancel with less than 24 hours' notice, the session will still be charged, but we'll always do our best to accommodate your needs.
If you need to cancel, please give us as much notice as possible—ideally at least 24 hours before the session. If you need to cancel with less than 24 hours' notice, the session will still be charged, but we'll always do our best to help you reschedule or discuss next steps.
At Freemind, each mentee works with one mentor at a time. If you think your child has a special need for more than one mentor, please reach out—we're happy to listen and see how we can best support your situation.
When you join us, we get to know your child through a short questionnaire (mentors fill one out too!). Using what we learn about their interests, needs, and personality, we handpick three mentors we believe would be a great fit. You and your child then get to choose the mentor who feels right for you.
Our mentors are caring, relatable role models who are just a few years ahead of your child. Each is chosen for their empathy, understanding, and ability to connect with teens.
Yes! We'll introduce you to three carefully selected mentors, and you and your child can choose the one that feels like the best fit.
Absolutely. Your child's comfort is our priority, and you can request a change at any time. We'll listen, talk it through, and help you find a better match—no awkwardness, no problem.
We take time to get to know both your child and our mentors. We look at interests, personalities, and needs to make the best possible match. We also check in after the first few sessions to make sure everyone's happy, and we adapt based on the feedback you give us.
Our mentors are selected for their character, empathy, and ability to relate to teens. Each mentor completes comprehensive safeguarding and youth support training, receives ongoing supervision, and has access to a full toolkit of resources designed by experts. Many are actively studying or working in fields related to education, psychology, or youth work, and all are committed to making a positive difference.
All mentors are fully vetted, trained in safeguarding, and sessions are closely monitored by our team. Mentors go through a thorough selection process, background checks, and complete comprehensive training before working with any mentee, especially on the topic of safeguarding. Any concern is promptly flagged by our system and addressed immediately.
Anything that matters to them—school, friendships, confidence, planning for the future, or just what's on their mind. This is a safe space for whatever they want to explore. (Note: Mentoring isn't therapy. If anything concerning comes up, we'll address it mindfully and appropriately, always keeping you informed.)
That's completely fine. Each session is shaped around what your child needs most at that time. If things change, just let us or the mentor know.
Sessions are structured to focus on real goals and practical strategies, not just conversation. Each session usually focuses on one 'core task', where your child will work on specific skills, techniques, or approaches that they can apply in their own time between sessions. Each session ends with a concrete takeaway or next step for your child.
Often, yes—mentors may suggest small actions or ideas to try out between sessions, but there's never any pressure or "homework." It's about supporting growth at your child's pace.
As with counselling and therapy, the intention of the mentoring session is to provide a "safe" and confidential space for the Mentee to air whatever they choose to raise. Therefore, unless there is something that the Mentor is concerned about, the content of sessions will be kept between the Mentee and the Mentor. However, the mentor will share with you a brief update on TutorCruncher after each session—what was covered, any wins or challenges, and next steps.
