Mentoring for Schools & Communities

We work with you to offer flexible, online mentoring with relatable near-peer mentors. Freemind offers your young people a safe space to ask questions, grow in confidence, and build skills they can use in their everyday life.

The Freemind Way

At Freemind Mentors, we connect young people with mentors who remember what it’s like to be in their shoes. Our approach is simple: real conversations, practical support, and a focus on building confidence and skills that last. We work alongside you to make mentoring a natural part of your community so your young people can thrive, and you can see the difference.

🌟

Real-Life Skills: Mentoring sessions focus on building confidence, finding direction, and developing practical skills/tools that young people carry into everyday life, at school and beyond.

🖥️

Flexible & Online: Sessions are designed to fit around busy lives and changing routines, making it easy for every young person to join in, wherever they are.

🙌

Relatable Role Models: Mentors are chosen for how easily mentees can relate to them, warm, understanding, and approachable role models who teens can actually talk to.

Partnership & Trust: We’re here to listen, adapt, and collaborate tailoring support to fit each community’s unique needs, with a commitment to safety and wellbeing at every step.

What Young People Can Gain

Every young person is different, and so are the things they need support with. Whether it’s school stress, friendships, confidence, or just having someone to talk to, mentoring offers young people practical skills and encouragement for whatever comes their way.

How it Works

Every mentoring journey is a bit different—together with your mentor, you’ll find support as you explore, grow, and work through whatever matters most to you.

Getting the conversation started

We’ll talk about what you’re looking for, answer any questions, and discuss the support you and your child might need. We’ll work around your family’s routine, so everything is shaped to fit what works best for you.

Finding the perfect match

Your child will fill out a short questionnaire so we can get to know them better—their interests, and any specific needs or requests. We use this to handpick three mentors who we think would be a great fit, and you and your child get to choose the one who feels right for you.

Your mentoring sessions start

Mentoring sessions take place online, last 45–60 minutes, and usually happen once a week—but we’re flexible to your schedule. Each session is shaped around your teen’s goals, with practical strategies and a concrete takeaway every time. (Details on how to access sessions will be in the FAQ.)

Keeping you in the loop

After each session, your mentor writes a short, friendly update on TutorCruncher so you’re always in the loop. We also check in after the first few sessions and at regular intervals. You’re welcome to reach out with questions or feedback at any time, and if anything needs adjusting, we’ll make it happen.

Ongoing care and support

If your child’s needs change, or if something doesn’t feel right, just let us know. We’re here to listen and adapt, making sure the experience is always safe, supportive, and right for your family.

Keeping your young people's safety in mind

You can feel confident knowing your young people’s safety is our top priority:
- Mentors are fully vetted and carefully chosen
- All sessions are closely monitored by our team
- Regular check-ins help us make sure everyone feels comfortable and supported
- We’re always available if you have a question or concern
- Any concern is promptly flagged by our system and addressed immediately

What are sessions like?

Check In

This is a space for catching-up so young people can share how they’re feeling and what’s been on their mind.

Setting the Focus

Together, choose one priority to work on that day (for example confidence, motivation, friendships, school stress, or a specific challenge).

Working together

This is the main part of the session, a space to talk things through and try practical tools, strategies, and activities young people can use in their day to day life.

Wrap-Up

Towards the end of the session, young people and their mentor will pause to reflect on what went well, what they can take away, and what feels most important to carry forward into everyday life.

Next Step

Young people and their mentor will agree on one small, realistic next step to try between sessions that is supportive and achievable.

Meet some of our Mentors
